Melting Point LGBT+

Who we are

How we started

In October 2018, the Melting Point started as an activity at the Centre LGBTQI+ de Paris: every Sunday, we organized a reception and provided support to LGBT+ asylum seekers in France.

In January 2024, we created the organization Melting Point LGBT+ to develop a larger, better organized solidarity network. We encourage mutual aid by empowering current and former asylum seekers to support one another, and we foster solidarity among our different LGBT+ communities.

In this period of increasing xenophobia, we seek to mobilize engagement in support of LGBT+ people in exile.

Every Sunday from 2pm to 5pm, we host a reception at the bar Tango (11 rue Au Maire, 75003 Paris). We also host activities designed to meet the specific needs of asylum seekers: workshops, support groups, socio-cultural activities, individualized support, and more.

We need your financial support but also and above all we need volunteers!

What we do

Accueil du dimanche au Tango

Organize meetups and mutual aid to prevent isolation

We provide a space for LGBT+ asylum seekers and volunteers to make new friends and social ties. In addition to our reception each Sunday, we also organize socio-cultural activities, meetups, and parties to better integrate them and to make the community of LGBT+ people in exile more visible.

Entretien individuel au Tango

Support LGBT+ people throughout the asylum process

We give guidance and assistance to help asylum seekers to better navigate the asylum process. We offer both workshops and individual assistance to those who need additional support.

Jeu de piste au Tango

Foster solidarity to better the living conditions of LGBT+ people in exile

We work together to find solutions to the precarity and instability faced by many people in exile. We support the physical and sexual health of LGBT+ people in exile, direct them to other organizations when needed, and we hope to grow our Solidarity Fund.

Our team

Our central mission as an organization is to foster mutual support and therefore to engage LGBT+ people in exile as much as possible: they are encouraged to become members (we charge minimum 2€ symbolic fee for membership) and to become volunteers when they feel ready.

We are all volunteers.
